# Plaid bank sync beta

> Connect eligible bank accounts with Plaid to sync recent transactions, refresh balances, and review recurring suggestions.

# Plaid bank sync beta

Plaid bank sync is an optional beta. It only appears when Plaid has been enabled for your CalBudget account. If you do not see it, you can still use CalBudget with manual accounts and statement imports.

## What Plaid sync does

When enabled, Plaid can help you:

* Connect up to 2 bank accounts
* Sync recent transactions
* Refresh current balances
* Detect recurring bills and income from synced history
* Show merchant logos when they are available

CalBudget stays calendar-first. Plaid brings in bank activity, but you still review your plan, categories, recurring schedules, and forecast inside CalBudget.

## Connect with Plaid

1. Open **Accounts**.
2. Find **Plaid bank sync beta**.
3. Select **Connect with Plaid**.
4. Complete the Plaid Link flow with your financial institution.
5. After the bank connects, CalBudget starts syncing transactions and balances.

If transaction history is still preparing, CalBudget may ask you to sync again in a few minutes.

## Review synced accounts

After connecting, the Plaid section shows each connected institution, the last transaction sync, the last balance sync, and the linked accounts from that institution.

Use the refresh action to sync transactions and balances again. A sync summary tells you how many transactions were added, updated, or removed.

## Review recurring suggestions

When Plaid finds repeat patterns in your history, CalBudget shows **Review recurring suggestions**. Keep the suggestions you want CalBudget to forecast going forward, and skip the ones that should stay as historical activity only.

Each suggestion includes the merchant or title, frequency, number of times seen, next expected date, and amount.

## Disconnect Plaid

Disconnecting Plaid stops future sync for that bank connection. Existing CalBudget accounts and transactions stay in place.

1. Open **Accounts**.
2. Find the connected institution.
3. Select the disconnect action.
4. Confirm **Disconnect Plaid**.

Disconnecting does not delete your CalBudget account records or transactions. To delete an account and its transactions, delete the account separately from the manual accounts list.

## If Plaid is not configured yet

If Plaid is enabled for your account but server credentials are not configured, CalBudget will show a setup message instead of completing the connection. You can continue using manual accounts and statement import while Plaid access is being prepared.
