# AI insights

> Understand optional AI recommendations, privacy expectations, and how AI differs from Advisor.

CalBudget has two AI-related surfaces:

* **AI recommendations** for paid users who opt in.
* **Advisor** for users on the Advisor plan.

## AI recommendations

AI recommendations create an informational cash-flow summary from recent transaction and forecast data.

Users must opt in from settings. The feature is off by default.

## What AI can analyze

Depending on available data, AI can summarize:

* Spending categories
* Income and expense trends
* Low-balance risk
* Recurring charges
* Possible timing changes
* Planning habits

## What AI should not claim

AI output should not claim to be:

* Financial advice
* Tax advice
* Legal advice
* Credit counseling
* A guaranteed forecast

## Advisor difference

Advisor is a higher plan with a guided workflow:

* Chat about forecast context.
* Weekly checkups.
* Generated action plans.
* Due-step reminders.
* Shared budget access roles.

AI recommendations are a report. Advisor is an ongoing planning layer.
