# Troubleshooting

> Common CalBudget issues and the safest next steps to fix them.

Use these checks when something in CalBudget does not look right. If you still need help, contact support with the email address on your CalBudget account and the screen where the issue happened.

## Login and account access

### I cannot find where to sign in

Go to `calbudget.com`, choose Sign in, and enter the email you used for CalBudget.

### I did not receive a password reset email

Check:

1. The exact email address you used for CalBudget.
2. Spam, promotions, and filtered inbox folders.
3. Whether your email provider delayed the message.

If the reset email still does not arrive after a few minutes, contact support.

### CalBudget says I am on Free after subscribing

Try refreshing the app and signing out and back in once. If it still shows the wrong plan, contact support with:

* The email on your CalBudget account
* Whether you subscribed on the website or through the App Store
* The plan you expected to see

Do not send full card numbers, bank passwords, or one-time codes.

## Calendar and transaction issues

### My balance looks wrong

Most balance issues come from one of these inputs:

| Check                    | Why it matters                                                            |
| ------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Account starting balance | The forecast begins from the account's starting balance. |
| Transaction date | A transaction on the wrong day changes later balances. |
| Income vs. expense | Income increases the balance. Expenses reduce it. |
| Missing recurring item | A missing bill or paycheck can make future days look too high or too low. |
| Duplicate transaction | Duplicates can make a date look worse than expected. |

Start with the first date where the balance looks wrong, then review transactions on and before that date.

### A recurring transaction duplicated or landed on the wrong date

Open one affected transaction and check the recurrence settings:

* Repeat schedule
* Next date
* End date
* Whether you edited one transaction or the whole series

If there are duplicate transactions, delete the extra transaction or edit the series so future dates generate correctly.

### Imported transactions did not change the forecast

When importing a statement, each row is reviewed as a match, a new transaction, or an ignored row.

| Choice | Result                                    |
| ------ | ----------------------------------------- |
| Match | Marks an existing transaction as cleared. |
| Create | Adds a new cleared transaction.           |
| Ignore | Skips that statement row. |

If a row was ignored or matched to the wrong item, edit the affected transaction manually or re-import the statement if needed.

## Reports and Navigator

### The AI Financial Report is unavailable

The AI Financial Report needs enough past and future calendar data to generate a useful report. Add missing income, bills, and upcoming recurring items, then try again.

### Navigator voice is not responding

Check:

1. Your plan includes Navigator.
2. Voice is enabled.
3. Your browser supports speech features.
4. Microphone permission is allowed.
5. You are using a supported action, such as the mic button, typed command field, or voice shortcut.

Voice commands are for CalBudget planning actions. They are not general browser dictation.

## Plaid bank sync beta

Plaid bank sync is a beta feature and may not appear for every account. If you do not see it, you can still use manual accounts and statement imports.

If you disconnect Plaid, existing CalBudget accounts and transactions stay in place unless you delete them separately.

## What to send support

Helpful support messages include:

* The email on your CalBudget account
* The page or modal you were using
* The transaction date and amount, if relevant
* The account, category, import file, or report involved
* The browser or device you used
* A screenshot with private details hidden

<Note>
  CalBudget support never needs your bank password, full card number, or one-time verification code.
